Kermit's adventures with Mrs. Mendenhall and her first grade class at Oglethorpe Elementary
On Thursday, September 28, Kermit arrived in Mrs. Mendenhall's first grade classroom at Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School around 8:30 a.m. for morning activities. The kids in Mrs. Mendenhall's class were excited to have a new classmate! Kermit said the pledge with us, and then he sat down at his new desk for our phonics lesson. Kermit is a great student, but he got a little distracted at one point and Miss Mendenhall had to tell Kermit to turn his chair around and listen!

Then Kermit went to P.E. and got to jump around and get some exercise. Kermit told the class that he loved to jump because it was a great way to keep his frog legs in shape!

Then Kermit got to go to the cafeteria for an assembly and meet a special guest, Mrs. Pam Alexander, the illustrator of The Onion Ambassador. Kermit got to hear Mrs. Alexander read to the students and then he raised his hand and she picked him to talk! Kermit told Mrs. Alexander that his favorite vegetable was a Vidalia onion. Mrs. Alex!
Mrs. Alexander was really happy since her book was about a sweet onion from Vidalia, Georgia. After the assembly Kermit sat down and listened to Mrs. Mendenhall read a really cool book, A Monster Hid Under My Bed. But you know what? That monster did not scare Kermit! He told the class that Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch were two of his really good friends.

Did you know that Kermit is a great writer? Yes, he is...He wrote a really neat story about monsters. Then came Kermit's favorite time of the day...recess! Kermit had lots of fun playing on the playground and playing tag with his new friends. Pretty soon it was time to go home, so Kermit packed up his book bag and got ready to get on the bus to go home. Bye Kermit! Make sure you read your reading book!

I'm having so much fun playing with the children .
