My adventures with Allyson Mann

I started my adventure with Allyson July 20th. After hanging out at her office and reviewing the plans for a Columns redesign, we went rock climbing with her friends Sam and Melissa at the Ramsey Center. It was very challenging, but with a little help from Wil I made it up the hardest part of the wall!
On July 21st (TGIF!), I went to the Country Rock Café with Allyson, Dot, Deanna, Matt, Bert and Lawton. We had a great time—I did the Electric Slide and rode the mechanical bull. Lots of people wanted to have their picture taken with me, and I made many new friends—including the deejay, who mentioned me several times.
The next day, I went to my first Adopt-a-Pet with Athens Canine Rescue! I met lots of great foster dogs and posed for pictures with Abby and puppies Petunia and Posey. I also helped bathe Dawson. It’s hard to believe these dogs need homes because they’re so nice! But that’s why ACR is so important. They take care of them until they find their furever homes. Later that day Allyson took me to Canopy trapeze studio to hang out for a while.
Sunday was a low-key, relaxed day. Allyson packed for the beach and I watched a little TV. Another American—Floyd Landis—won the Tour de France!
On July 24th, Allyson and I drove 9 hours to meet her family at Indian Rocks Beach in Florida. The beach was great, and her relatives—nearly 30 people!—were very nice to me. I got some quality time in the sun, played in the sand and especially enjoyed meeting Allyson’s Nana, her cousin Jason, her nephew Aaron and her nieces Alice, Lindley and Sydney. Sydney turned 5 at the beach, and it was really fun watching her open birthday presents. She loves girly things, and her favorite gift was an Ariel dress.
After the long drive back home on July 29th, I had a quiet weekend at home with Allyson and her dogs Barkley, Mango and Sadie. They sure seemed to like sniffing me. I guess that’s a good thing.
On Tuesday, Allyson and I rode the UGA bus to the library. She took me—and the $100 I collected for Athens Canine Rescue—to Laura, who will take me to Bly, who will take me to Chicago! I’m soooooooooo excited …
