MY FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND ADVENTURE WITH LARRY DENDY AND HIS FAMILY
I had a great time travelling with Larry and his wife, Gail, June 16-18. First on Friday we had to leave Larry and Gail’s dog, Daisy, with Gail’s Aunt Opal here in Athens.Aunt Opal liked me a lot and we sat outside her house and talked. But Daisy just ignored me. We made a picture of me with Aunt Opal and Daisy.
Next we went to Athens Heritage Home where Gail’s mother, Mrs. Carter, is undergoing rehabilitation because she’s been sick. Mrs. Carter was very surprised when I came in, but she laughed and was happy to have her picture made with me. Gail took a picture of Mrs. Carter and me.

Then we rode in Larry and Gail’s car to a big house in Senoia where Larry’s sister, Ivie Bowman, lives. Larry and Gail’s son, Christopher, his wife Rozy, and their son Park (a.k.a. “P.D.”), who is almost 3, and daughter Carter, who is 1, flew down from Cincinatti and met us there. P.D. was a little afraid of me at first because I’m bigger than he is, but we got to be friends. Carter just ignored me.

On Saturday we went to Atlanta. First we went to Underground, but I stayed in the car because it would have been hard for somebody to carry me in the big crowd of people. Then we went to Centennial Park. That was pretty cool. A lot of people smiled when they saw me, and some little children called my name. It was very hot and I wanted to hop into the water, but I didn’t. I also had this strong urge to go to the Georgia Aquarium, which is nearby. We took a picture of me with Larry, Christopher, Rozy, P.D. and Carter in Centennial Park with the Aquarium in the background.

Next we went to a hospital in Chamblee where Larry and Gail’s niece, Beth, is recuperating after some emergency surgery. Beth thought it was really neat to have me visit and it made her feel better. We made a picture of me with Beth, and another picture of me in the hospital waiting room with Christopher, P.D., Carter and Beth’s mom, Ivie.

On Sunday, we drove to Columbus to visit Larry’s father, Street Dendy, and his wife, Julie. They live in a nice apartment with their cat, Dusty. They were really surprised when I came in, but I think I scared Dusty because she ran and hid and never came out to meet me. Street and Julie were very nice and let me sit in a chair. I got to be in a “four generations” picture with Street, Larry, Christopher, P.D. and Carter, along with Julie.

I was a little tired by the time we got back to Athens on Sunday night, but I had a great time meeting Larry and Gail’s family and celebrating Father’s Day with them.

Hanging out with Daisy and Aunt Opal.

Visiting Mrs. Carter.
